Y.W. Peter Chen
Peter is a magna cum laude graduate of Texas A&M University. He received his juris doctor, with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law. Peter served for years as a civil litigator with one of the largest law firms in Texas, practicing before state and federal courts throughout Texas. Peter has also advocated on behalf of clients before state and federal administrative agencies and has lobbied for his client’s interests before the United States Senate.
Prior to his legal career, Peter spent 6 years teaching High School English and Humanities in Dallas. Outside of the office, Peter has served as a board member and committee co-chair with the Dallas Asian American Bar Association, and has published articles with the Dallas Bar Headnotes and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
Peter has been honored as a Texas SuperLawyers Rising Star from 2014-2018, and was selected to the 2020 and the 2019 Texas Super Lawyers List. He was named to the inaugural Lawyers of Color Hot 100 List for the Southwest Region in 2013. Peter was named the Dallas Asian American Bar Association's Outstanding Member for 2015 and received the 2019 SMU APALSA Distinguished Mentor Award.
